Angra dos Reis
Angra dos Reis is a Brazilian municipality located in the south of the state of Rio de Janeiro, discovered by the Portuguese on January 6, 1502, and was only colonized after 1556, which continues to delight countless visitors with its 365 islands and two thousand beaches full of natural beauties and legends. To get to know this piece of Costa Verde Fluminense, even with a boat trip, where you can observe from the sea of crystalline waters, to the mansions erected on the private islands by the rich and famous.
Of all its islands, stands the remarkable Big Island.
Considered a paradise of adventurers with its many trails, waterfalls, and deserted beaches, the Island played an important role in the historical-cultural scenario of Brazil, because it housed a prison for almost 60 years.
In the past, Angra dos Reis before the arrival of the Europeans, was inhabited by indigenous tribes Tupinambás and was one of the most important ports of the coast of Rio de Janeiro. There they loaded ships loaded with materials from the other side of the world and also of slaves to supply the labor in the coffee plantations of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
Today, besides being a point of reference for Brazilian tourism, Angra is the scene of political and ecological discussions, as the only Brazilian nuclear power stations, Angra I and Angra II, are built there.

Climate
Located on the southern coast of Rio de Janeiro, Angra dos Reis also has its climate determined by the presence of the subtropical air mass of the South Atlantic, as it happens with the entire southeastern region. This mass of air keeps the weather steady, and sunny most of the time.
The changes of time throughout the year, occur with the arrival of cold fronts.
In the summer, the strong warming causes clouds of storms like Cumulus Nimbus, the famous summer rains, which occur more frequently in the afternoon and early evening.
Between November and March, there is also the formation of tropical instability areas on the Paraíba valley, which move to the coast causing rainfall for 2 or 3 consecutive days in the region of Angra.
Because of the proximity to the sea, summer rains associated with arrivals of cold fronts in the region provoke true showers during the summer, leaving the period extremely dangerous for tours in this region. In these cases, the best way to find out is to follow the weather reports.
