Amazonia
The Amazon as the largest forest and hydrographic region in the world is also the largest tropical rainforest region in South America that extends across the watershed of the Amazon River which, from the foothills of the Andes to the Atlantic Ocean, travels a distance of 3700 km in a bed whose width varies between 30 and 50 km in the time of the floods, by eight countries, Brazil with 60% of its territory, followed by Peru with 13 percent and with small quantities in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana.
Only the waters of the Amazon account for one-sixth of the fresh water that flows into the world's oceans.
In Brazil, the geo-economic region of Amazonia or the Amazon Regional Complex comprises all the states of the North, practically all of Mato Grosso and western Maranhão, in an area of approximately 5.1 million square kilometers distributed in eight states, constituting in the less populous geo-economic region.
This basin covers seven million square kilometers, of which five and a half million square kilometers are covered by tropical rainforest, and consists of a cluster of trunks and trees with persistent foliage, interlaced by lianas and where sunlight hardly penetrates, making it the true "lung of the world", due to the abundance of the equatorial forest, being this region of major importance for the environmental balance of the planet, to the extent that there occurs the production of oxygen in great quantity.

Rubber from the haevea, a rubber tree, from this region is transported by the river to Manaus and from there to Pará, at the mouth of the Amazon River, from where it is exported to the United States and Europe.

The forest is still mostly virgin, inhabiting people such as the Tupis and Guaranis, as well as harboring an enormous number of plants and animals, such as:

40 thousand species of plants, 427 species of mammals, 1,294 species of birds, 378 species of reptiles, 427 species of amphibians and 3,000 fish.

However, the invertebrates are the ones with the most impressive numbers: 128,840 species.
Tourism
The mysteries and charms of the Amazon region have several peculiarities in the cultural and gastronomic field, as well as exotic elements related to the fauna and flora of the region, which intrigue people from different continents.
Brazil began to develop an internal and external potential of tourism and people come to know more of this country.
Most tourists arriving in the Amazon region are retired, between 45 and 65 years old, with availability to travel at any time of the year.
Highlights in tourism are the cultural attractions as the main interest in the Amazon region, followed by natural attractions, hospitality and guided tour services.
Gastronomy
Due to the existence of more than two thousand species of fish in the rivers of the Amazon, the Amazonian cuisine values, above all, the fish. The main species consumed are tambaqui, tucunaré, pirarucu, jaraqui, pacu and matrinchã, that are transformed into typical dishes, served fried, roasted or cooked. Most cooked dishes (caldeirada) are accompanied by pirão, a kind of cassava flour mass cooked in the fish broth itself, or by tucupi, a yellow sauce made from the fermentation of the cassava juice. For fried and roasted fish, the "baião de dois" (homogenous mixture of beans, rice and green odor) and Uarini flour are indispensable.

The regional fruits complement the menu, and can be consumed in the natural or in the form of juices, jams, jellies and ice creams. Among the most appreciated are mango, pitomba, cupuaçu, graviola, watermelon, tucumã, taperebá, peach palm, araçá-boi, biribá, abio, buriti, bacaba, açaí, o patauá and the well-known guaraná of the Amazon.

In the morning menu of the Amazonian, coffee with hot milk accompanied by French bread with tucumã and rennet cheese, also called "x-caboquinho", became a kind of institution. Tasteful, too, is to taste the famous tapioca made with the cassava mass and stuffed with tucumã and rennet cheese, or alone in the butter.

This food delight can be found in regional restaurants and regional cafes in the city of Manaus and nearby municipalities such as Presidente Figueiredo, Rio Preto da Eva and Manacapuru.

In addition to the regional restaurants, the visitor can delight in the national and international cuisines. Manaus offers a variety of Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, Chinese and American fast food.
Weather
The current climate of the Amazon region is a combination of several factors, the most important being the availability of solar energy, through the energy balance
Due to the high energy values that affect the surface, the behavior of the air temperature shows a small variation throughout the year, with the exception of the southern part (Rondônia and Mato Grosso), which also suffer the action of frontal systems locally by Friagens.
The seasonal thermal amplitude is of the order of 1-2 ºC, and the average values are between 24ºC and 26ºC. Specifically, Belém (PA) has the maximum monthly average temperature of 26.5ºC in November and the lowest temperature of 25.4ºC in March. Manaus (AM), on the other hand, has its temperature extremes in September (27, 9 ° C) and April (25.8 ° C).
It is a region in which the hot and humid equatorial climate predominates, due to the proximity to the Equator (continuous to the Atlantic Forest), with the temperature varying little during the year. Rainfall is abundant, with annual precipitation averages varying from 1 500 mm to 1 700 mm, and may exceed 3 000 mm at the mouth of the Amazon River and on the coast of Amapá. The rainy season lasts six months.
