Ábrego, originally called La Cruz, was founded in 1765 on land donated by Ana Josefa and María Teresa Maldonado, to the lands of Gregorio Quintero, Aquilino Jácome, Miguel Navarro, Ramón Trillo, Manuel Gómez, Esteban Patricia. , Francisco Peñaranda and Miguel Álvarez Castrillón.
