In 1532, the Tallanes were the domain of the Quechuas and the Chinchano chief named Maízabilca was the governor of the valley. The French archaeologist Paul Rivet locates the Tallanes in the area between Motupe-Lambayeque, to the south, and Mantas in Ecuador, to the North.

The primitive man of the Morropón sector lived this space and this time immersed in the socio-economic and political influences of these primitive ethnic groups.

So much so that the irrigation works of the TALLANES are still appreciated. Like the famous channel dug in living stone at a certain height of Cerro de la Cruz, north of Morropón, from which the farmers carved water from the river known as Gallega to the arid lands of Piedra Blanca and Franco in the vicinity of the curacazgo de Pabor, a canal that has been rehabilitated and currently used for irrigation of the areas on the slopes of the hills as well as for other sectors.

The ceramics found in many huacas of the sector show us the carvings as artists in the use of clay, huacos, zoomorphs, anthropomorphs, phytomorphs, representations of their agricultural customs, physiological concomitances and polytheistic representations. Not only in this as in agriculture, the Tallanes constituted an important ethnic group, the existence of the Inca dairy farms between Huancabamba and Ayabaca, and among other valuable information such as the opening of the commercial route between Serran, Huancabamba and Jaén that followed the course of the high of the Piura river and climbed the Andes in the form of steps made of stone.

With which it can be affirmed that the Tallanes annexed to the Chimú empire at the same time named by the Incas had an active relationship within these civilizations in the middle Piura including the current Morropón sector in Alto Piura, where they lived for a long time.

Of polytheistic religion of the primitive Morropanos they adored the sun, the moon, the high promontories, the birds and the phenomena, whose causes were inexplicable: the lightning, the thunder etc.

Mute millennial witness of the sacred rest in the open cone of the Maray that was the tutelary genius of the valley, its name in Quechua means BATAN. Maray is the center of what was the curacazgo de MOSCALA where later the conqueror settled down to destroy the pagan rites of the AYLLUS.

In this way, Morropano primitive man was at the center of these pre-Inca cultures, fully receiving their influence.

To the north with the Ayahuacas,

To the south with the Mochicas and Chimú.

To the East with the Huancapampas of Huancabamba.

To the West with the Yungas.

At the time of the colony, the area of Morropón towards the east until reaching the Huancabambina mountain range, its period of conquest and exploration began with Francisco Pizarro's decision to send Hernando de Soto on an explorative mission, the chroniclers saying that he left de Pabur and toured various towns on historic days.

With the distribution of land between Spaniards that occurs in 1501, the colonization of agents and lands that were delivered once the beneficiary accepted the following formula: <to you, so-and-so, so many Indians are entrusted to such a chief and teach them the things of our holy Catholic faith>: So simple and easy, lands and lives passed at the mercy of the colonizer.

The MOSCALA valley was assigned to Juan Escobedo, with the use of 1000 pesos per year and Indians. But he sold it to the lilatero DIEGO FONSECA who became the owner of the MOSCALA valley.

This division as property was hereditary from father to son. In such condition, MOSCALA was also left with its 300 entrusted natives; located between the radius of operations of the cacique de Serran and El Pabur.

In the process of colonization, the Spanish founded their cities, the first being, on Inca land, that of PIURA LA VIEJA, about 7 km west of Morropón. Before being moved, it remained between 25 and 30 years, exerting its cultural influence in every order within the aboriginal groups of the sector. Such has been bequeathed to us by the <Quebrada de las Damas>, for being of clear, calm and cool waters for personal use of service of the Spanish ladies: the name of the Gallega to the river that runs east of Morropón; the same configuration of cities with their central parade ground, surrounded by the town hall, the church, the political administration, the residence of the main character or of high rank.

Morropón's first settlement was in the foothills of Maray, indigenous strongholds of great importance, later it was transferred to the Moscalá pampas, avoiding major diseases due to humidity and abundant mosquitoes in the first place.

In current Morropón, this site dates from colonial times. It was created as a province on January 21, 1936, it included the districts of Chulucanas, Morropón and Salitral that belonged to the province of Piura and the districts of Santo Domingo and Chalaco that were part of the province of Ayabaca.
