A tree surrounded by chains assumes its importance when the guides explain that Cortes tied his ships between the branches of the gray giant upon his arrival in Mexico. But the sea retreated a few kilometers; Now the gigantic figure is surrounded only by land and gypsies who sell their esoteric services everywhere.

People have become accustomed to seeing the tourist buses arriving, as they barely fit into the narrow streets that were once on their way to take the fishing nets to the La Antigua River.

Today, fishing is no longer enough to support people and more than half have moved their fishing boats to souvenir tents or restaurants.



Location:



To the north it borders Ursulo Galván; to the south with Veracruz; to the east of the Gulf of Mexico and to the west with the National Bridge and Paso de Ovejas.



How to get:



La Antigua is located 4 and a half hours from the DF and 20 minutes from the port of Veracruz, on the Veracruz-Cardel highway.







Some sugar factories and a 15,000 lizard farm are the strongest cards after tourism.

Some have transformed their boats to make them more comfortable for the visitor and gain some weight by taking a 300km long river tour and 21 semi-virgin beaches.
