Presentation
Israel, a Middle Eastern country on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, is considered the biblical Holy Land by Jews, Christians and Muslims.
Few places in the world arouse passion in the way Israel does: the dazzling beauty of its hills and valleys, the strange stillness of the Dead Sea, the multicolored canyon of Makhtesh Ramon and the ancient walls and paths of Nazareth and Jerusalem. The call of the muezzin and the silent prayers of Orthodox Jews at the Western Wall reflect how the religious devotion of the Muslims, Christians and Jews living here runs through every facet of life. Tourists rarely leave without finding the country's complex politics. But there are also many ways to relax: the bars and beaches of Tel Aviv and Haifa, the Galilean wineries and the mezze-filled tables. For the curious tourist, Israel never fails to challenge and confuse, excite and surprise, leaving a mark that lingers long after returning home.
