Tróia
Tróia Beach is located in the convergence of the river Sado with the Atlantic Ocean, in the extreme of the Peninsula of Tróia. You can start with the Serra da Arrábida, which surrounds Troia, and is described by some as "the most beautiful bay in the world". It extends over the Atlantic, at about 500 meters of altitude, along the coast between Setúbal and Sesimbra.

The Serra da Arrábida Natural Park was established in 1976 and covers an area of ​​10,800 hectares, bounded by Setúbal, Palmela, Azeitão, Sesimbra and the ocean.

The Sado Estuary Natural Reserve covers most of the Sado Estuary, extending over an area of ​​23,160 hectares. It can be explored through jeep cruises or circuits, which offer unforgettable moments. It is in this estuary that is a resident population of dolphins-roazes, composed by 30 animals, a unique case in the country and little common in Europe.

History buffs will find an interesting archaeological site in Troy. With vestiges of the industrial and religious activity and the urban life of the Romans, it is possible to explore the ruins of several nuclei of factories linked to the fish preserve, a set of dwellings, the thermal baths, the paleocristan basilica and the Necropolis, among other things.

The Chapel of Our Lady of Troy was built by the Order of Santiago in the fifteenth century and is a small chapel that is in the middle of the Caldera and testifies to the fervent belief of the maritime inhabitants of the area.

The Tourist Complex of Tróia offers several structures for the practice of sport, among which the Tróia Golf, an 18-hole golf course, stands out. It has a breathtaking view of the ocean and a cozy club house set in a pine setting and awaits quiet matches.

The Marina of Troy is situated at the northern end of the peninsula, facing the Sado River and occupying an area of ​​about 2.7 hectares. It has capacity for 184 recreational boats and one of the spaces with greater visibility of this tourist destination.

One of the most recent tourist developments on the peninsula of Troy is the Casino. Opened on January 1, 2011, it has an area of ​​about 4,000 square meters and is distinguished by the innovation of the offer, the bold contemporary architecture and multimedia equipment. Gastronomy
The gastronomic offer of Tróia is one of the important attractions of the region which, due to the deep connection of its inhabitants with the sea, is distinguished by the quality of the fresh fish, seafood and bivalve dishes. In addition to the delicious fish and seafood dishes, the flavors of the Costa Azul region include the aroma of the creamy Azeitão cheeses, the Moscatel and the wines produced in the Setúbal peninsula and regional sweets.

Some of the specialties of the region are alcomonias (sweet of Arab origin whose main ingredients are the honey and pine nuts) and the sweets of pine nuts of Melides. The delicious Azeitão pies can also be found in this region.
Weather
In the area of ​​the Sado estuary and surrounding area of ​​Tróia à Comporta the climate can be classified as mild.
The temperatures, due to the typical climatic conditions of the zone, vary according to the seasons of the year, however do not usually reach very high peaks or too low. The annual average temperature is around 16 ° C, with July and August being the hottest months, with peaks around 22 ° C (average value) and January being the coldest month, with average temperatures below 10 ° C.
Throughout the year the rainfall index is moderate and the months with the highest incidence are those of November to February. The driest months are those of July and August, when the highest maximum temperatures are also recorded.
The area of ​​the estuary is a sheltered area, with port facilities that invite you to stay in its waters.
In this zone you can be anchored in the ports of Sesimbra, Setúbal or in the magnificent marina of Troia where you will easily have access to all the surrounding facilities.
The winds in this area can be north and northwest as well as east on some occasions being a bit stronger in the summer months, however never bothering enough to disturb your stay in this area of ​​fantastic beaches and river.
