Tourism
Granada Island has an elliptical and vivid form with a tropical jungle inside it.
Fantastic beaches on the coast line, and sublime diving, are the main offers
St. George, the largest city, has one of the most picturesque water fronts in the entire Caribbean. Constructions of stone, forts of a forgotten time and houses of all colors merge against the hilly landscape of urban aesthetics.
Visiting Grenada Island is a relaxing time where captivating locals and an eclectic village life are added to the sublime setting.
For many visitors, of course, the extent of any island is taken by its beaches and coral reefs, and Granada offers plenty of both. The island is surrounded by miles of perfect yarn, including both the fascinating white and black sand beaches. The beach Grand Anse, has a gentle expansion that extends for two miles around the bend of a gentle bay, is world famous. Granada has much to offer those interested in pleasure at sea as well, with easy access and crystal clear reefs of both Granada and its sister island, Carriacou.
Gastronomy
The island's cuisine is as varied and tasty as the tapas. It is a style of cuisine with a great Arab heritage, due to the spices, rich in soups and sweet.
Products from the fertile surrounding plains of Granada are the basis of many traditional local dishes such as fried soft beans with ham, bunches of stuffed Swiss chard, thistles, pipirrana salad, and omnipresent gazpacho.
The famous specialty of the provincial capital is Sacromonte Omelete, a dish is not suitable for delicate palates, since it is made from medulla, cooked brains, bull testicles and eggs.
A visit to Granada is not complete without trying the "granadino tapas" in tavernas and bars. Tapas are served free of charge in all bars in the province. They are a tasty symbol of Granada, stimulating the senses and immediately carved into the visitors' memories. The gastronomic exhibition of the tapa, is usually chosen by the bartender and the client respectfully accepts his choice. Going out with friends to go eat tapas, is one of the most popular and deep-rooted customs in the city.
