Tourism
To try to define Calahonda is like trying to define the Costa del Sol itself. Blessed with fantastic weather, spanning the narrow strip of land between steep mountains and the silky sheen of the Mediterranean and attracting many tourists each year, Calahonda is a favorite site for families, couples, retirees, golfers and younger tourist groups.
Calahonda is located near a dozen golf courses and so is an excellent choice for golfers.
A couple of kilometers along the road lies Puerto Cabopino which has the reputation of being the most secluded and picturesque harbor on the Costa del Sol and is a popular spot for tourists who want to enjoy good food before taking the beaches of sand for an evening stroll.
As in many other areas along the Tropical Coast, the beaches of Calahonda are wide and clean, and the town is quiet. There are large protruding stones in the sea with the oasis palm groves that dot the Calahonda beaches, giving an exotic Middle East feel.
The rocky cliffs of Calahonda lend themselves well for snorkeling and diving, and the constant winds to make excellent sailing, windsurfing and paragliding all year round.
As a traditional fishing village, Calahonda beach is full of small fishing boats used to make great photos, especially at romantic sunsets.

Gastronomy
The gastronomy on this part of the coast is 100% international with global influence.
Calahonda has traditional dishes served that are secrets or unknown or carefully guarded, whose farms previously occupied the land.
The Fiesta de Calahonda offers its visitors the opportunity to experience the pleasant Spanish tradition of churros, a fried and battered pastry that is usually served with a cup of thick hot chocolate, in which your churros should be dipped, if you really want to try it, not true Spanish style. Maybe this is not the healthiest dish, but winter sees an explosion of its consumption, with many of the locals eating them at breakfast.
Calahonda has excellent chiringuitos, bars and restaurants along the beach that serve fresh seafood in abundance.
