The museum is located in a colonial-style house in tile and tread wall where Bolívar stayed in 1828. It is divided into two sectors: the first exhibits the history of the house in three rooms, the second narrates the regional history from 500 AD until the civil strife of the 19th century, the Photography Room and a complete sample of the Guane culture.
