Diese wichtige Fortaleza aus dem Jahr 1632 aus der Regierungszeit von Filipe III wurde von D. Luís de Sousa, Conde do Prado, Gouverneur und Generalkapitän des Königreichs der Algarve, erbaut.
Das Innere weist auch Spuren der alten Kapelle auf, die sicherlich São Luís, dem Schutzpatron der Festung, gewidmet ist.
Das Hotel liegt in Vila do Bispo, Algarve.
Es ist eine der interessantesten Befestigungen in der Gemeinde Vila do Bispo. Die Ruinen von zwei Halbbastionen, Wassergraben, Waffentor, Kaserne und Batterien (hoch und niedrig) sind noch sichtbar.
