Cabo Vírgenes, is a remote area in the extreme south of Argentina, about 2,400 kilometers south of Buenos Aires.
Once a year, 80,000 penguins go to Cape Virgenes to breed, making the region the second largest colony of these birds in the world, after Punto Tombo, further north on the Atlantic coast.
It is about 150km from Rio Gallegos by a very bad road (dirt, dust and stones).
Cabo Virgenes is at the entrance of the Strait of Magellan on the side of Atlantido
