The existing church is what remains of the convent that was erected in 1599. It underwent alterations in the century. XVII and later a military hospital would occupy part of the temple.

After a fire in the street of Almacave, the entrance suffered, in 1916, important changes.

Inside the church stands an image of Our Lady (16th century), carved in wood, deserving special attention the picture of the high altar, magnificent painting of the 16th century. XVII, allusive to the death of S. Francisco.

Location: Bottom of Almacave Street

In the sacristy it is worth admiring the colorful paradeiro with the paintings alluding to the life of St. Francis, as well as the painting of the ceiling.

In the chapel of Senhora das Dores we can admire a beautiful iron gate dating from 1803, as well as panels of tiles alluding to the passion of Christ.
