The Cathedral of Ecatepec is the seat of the Diocese of Ecatepec. It is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is located in the municipality of Ecatepec, which belongs to the State of Mexico.



It was inaugurated in March 1999 in the San Cristóbal neighborhood. Its construction, which began on January 6, 1998, is modernist, similar to that of the Basilica of Guadalupe, simulating a tent for pilgrims.



For this cathedral, Manuel Chicomoztoc Arismendi was appointed as the first bishop by the then Pope John Paul II.



More than 70 churches depend on this diocese.



On Sundays, as in all Catholic churches, Masses are celebrated accompanied by musical groups such as students, musician-vocalists and even Mariachi, which by the way gives a folkloric form to this religious act.
