It was founded by the Bishop of Huamanga Dr. Sancho De Andrade, in 1684. The temple stands out for its stone walls with a single nave, according to the design it had two towers, but due to the passage of time and the neglect in which it is located, only one was built.
Built to the west of the city of Ayacucho, on an elevated esplanade from where the city is dominated with a panoramic view.
Neighbors have built a stage to hold the Waylias contest at Christmas and Bajada de Reyes.
