Bruges is renowned for it's Gothic architecture, whilst you are there you can see perfect examples of this in:
- The Belfort: built in the 13th century, it houses a municipal Carillion comprising of 47 bells. The city still employs a full-time bell ringer, who puts on regular free concerts.
- Onze Lieve Vrouwekerk (Church of Our Lady): the sculpture of Madonna and Child can be seen in the transept. The church's brick spire is Europe's highest brick tower/building, at 122 metres.
Bruges also has a very fine collection of medieval and early modern art which can be seen in the nunmerous museums around the city.
