The city also plays host to conferences throughout the year; is home to the month long festival in May each year; and with London just 55 minutes away by regular train service, Brighton is an ideal destination of the South. With the sea and glorious beaches in front and the South Downs behind, the city has something to offer everyone. There's old-style glamour in the original chequered flooring, high ceilings and ornate chandeliers of this quiet Victorian villa, but recent refurbishment adds a modern twist: contemporary furnishings in rich colours. The work of local artists is showcased here, giving the hotel a distinctive feel.
The 11 rooms vary in size and colour, from cosy and functional single rooms to almost palatial four-poster bed deluxe rooms, decorated in regal red. Even the more compact rooms feel uncluttered.
Full English breakfast or vegetarian alternatives are taken in a traditional and homely dining room - Radio 2 plays in the background.
